Date: 5 December 2012

End Time: 8:30 pm

Venue: 27/29 South Lambeth Road, Vauxhall, London, SW8 1SZ

Those of us who looked forward to seeing the first men on the Moon never thought that we might also see the last …

In December 1972, Apollo 17 completed mankind’s first ‘in-person’ programme of exploration of another world. Yet when Gene Cernan stood on the surface of the Moon and said; ‘We came … as we shall return’, no-one dreamed how long we would have to wait until that return might take place.

With a valley in the highlands providing a spectacular location, the only geologist on the Moon, and highlights that include the only Apollo launch at night and the discovery of orange soil on the Moon, Jerry Stone rounds off his series of presentations commemorating the 40th anniversary of the Apollo missions with a look back at The Last Men on the Moon.
