THIS IS A PAST EVENT – HYPERLINKS AND FORMS HAVE BEEN REMOVED

Speaker: Stephen Slater and John Zarnecki

Date: 21 November 2012
Start Time: 7 pm
End Time: 8:30 pm

Venue: 27/29 South Lambeth Road, Vauxhall, London, SW8 1SZ

The scientific and technical achievements of the Cassini-Huygens mission are well known within the worldwide scientific and space communities through the normal channels of the scientific and technical literature. But how to disseminate the story of the labours of more than 15 years and in particular some of the personal stories involved has been in some ways as challenging as the mission itself. This talk will present an unlikely collaboration between one of the mission scientists and a young documentary film-maker to produce an hour long TV documentary recently aired by the BBC in the UK and increasingly being shown to a world-wide audience. The challenges faced and the lessons learned for other long-term space projects will be discussed and illustrated with examples from the film.
