BIS Summer Get-Together

Date: 30 July 2016

Venue: RAF Museum Cosford, Shifnal, Shropshire, TF11 8UP

Guest of Honour: Alan Bond, Founder and Chief Engineer, Reaction Engines Limited

Join us for the Society’s AGM, followed by an afternoon social and picnic. Catch up with BIS friends and bring all the family for a relaxing afternoon at the Museum.

BIS Fellows are invited to the AGM, which will be followed by a discussion on the Society to which all Members and Fellows are welcome, so come and have your say about the BIS!

The focus of the afternoon will be the social, with a series of interesting short talks, including one by our West Midlands branch and one underneath the Museum’s Avro Vulcan, so don’t miss out! There will be rocket launches and other fun activities for all the family, and a raffle of tempting space-related prizes will be held. If you feel like donating any space-related prize, perhaps an unwanted book or a piece of space memorabilia, please let us know.

Tickets are available at £10 each (need to be booked in advance), raising money for the Society, with under 16s free. Bring all your own food and drink, a picnic rug and chairs. Car parking for the day is £4, and entry to the RAF Museum is free. Please advise us if you will be attending the AGM only, for which there is no charge.

The Museum itself opens at 10:00 am, so guests can arrive from then on to look at the museum exhibits before the AGM starts at 12:00.

Tickets for the AGM can be booked here (free of charge) and the Get-Together can be booked here in our eShop or via the BIS HQ office. Entry to the AGM is free for BIS Fellows, and free for BIS Members for the discussion afterwards.

We have a great line up of short talks, a fun space quiz and a raffle with lots of interesting space-related prizes. If you have any items that you would like to donate to the raffle, please let us know.

Master science fiction (and fact) model maker and special effects supervisor Mat Irvine, the guardian of Doctor Who’s K-9, will be bringing many of his best space models. And K-9 will be making an appearance!

Car Sharing Scheme

A car-sharing scheme will be available, between Members, so please get in touch if you would like to offer lifts, or would need transport.  We can’t guarantee a lift, but we hope we can put you in touch with someone who can!  Please contact and let us know your location, and for people wanting a lift, how many seats are needed, and for people offering a lift, how many seats are available.

This is sure to be a popular event, and tickets will be issued on a first come, first served basis, limited to 200 tickets, so book now and we look forward to seeing you there.

Be sociable; support the BIS!
