The British Interplanetary Society HQ is located in South Lambeth Road, within minutes of Vauxhall Cross Transport Interchange (which is a hub for Underground, Railway and Bus stations). This makes the Headquarters well situated for London’s West End, which is within 15 minutes of the front door of the BIS, and most major London Rail Stations are within 15 minutes travel.
The BIS moved into its existing HQ in 1979, following extensive work carried out on the building. The Headquarters is an amalgamation of a 3 storey Victorian Town House and a 3 storey Office Block, and has been significantly overhauled since.
As a centre for Astronautics in the UK, the BIS is well equipped in terms of its library, the conference room / lecture theatre, meeting rooms and office space. Many a student’s Degree or Doctorate has acknowledged the use of the BIS library, and the library has also been used as a backdrop for TV interviews with astronauts.
The British Interplanetary Society HQ is located close to the South Bank of the River Thames in Vauxhall.
