World Space Week 2013

World Space Week 2013

“EXPLORING MARS – DISCOVERING EARTH”

Every year space enthusiasts around the world celebrate mankind’s greatest achievements in space from 4 to 10 October as part of World Space Week. This year we are set to celebrate the exploration of Mars and how it helps us to understand ourselves and the world in which we live.

As UK National Co-ordinators for World Space Week the British Interplanetary Society is facilitating space events all over the UK and is calling out to all space organisations to advertise your local events with us as part of World Space Week.

The national network of BIS members can offer support and assistance to your organisation, and can help to provide publicity for your events. Contact us using the link at the bottom of the page which will take us to a form.

We will place basic information about your event on our site, a link to your detailed pages, and will encourage you to create a link back to our events directory.

Help us make this the biggest World Space Week yet!

What better way to start the week than with the Mars Society UK annual conference, on Sat 5th October at the National Space Centre, Leicester?

The British Interplanetary Society will be finishing World Space Week in style by celebrating its 80th birthday on Saturday 12th October in Liverpool.

What is World Space Week?

4 October, 1957: Launch of the first human-made Earth satellite, Sputnik 1.

10 October, 1967: The signing of the Treaty on Principles Governing the Activities of States in the Exploration and Peaceful Uses of Outer Space, including the Moon and Other Celestial Bodies.
