Spacebit Launches New Funding Platform for Democratised Space Exploration

A ground-breaking way to fund international space projects, making space exploration available to everyone, was launched on the 24th January at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

Pavlo Tanasyuk, Founder and CEO of Spacebit

A community-led crowdfunding platform pioneered by Spacebit will enable individuals to participate in and fund space exploration projects.

For five years, Spacebit has been developing and building an ecosystem to allow people and small enterprises to take advantage of the recent giant leaps and lowering costs of launch technology and satellite platforms. Spacebit has strong support from top scientists, industry leaders and public figures.

Spacebit, for the first time, are able to offer individuals the opportunity to fully and financially participate in space projects, becoming part of this new space community. Once launch costs are met, we then begin the next exciting stage of the Spacebit vision: The first publicly crypto-funded space mission.

Pavlo Tanasyuk, founder of Spacebit explains:

“Space exploration is currently reliant on governments and commercial investors.  But we believe that individuals and private stakeholders will become the new space pioneers. We believe that technologies like blockchain, which powers cryptocurrency, and a new kind of crowdfunding is the future of space exploration. We will first launch a satellite, financed using this groundbreaking platform.

After that we are aiming for lunar missions. Launching a satellite will prove that community-funded missions are viable and will ensure that the future of space exploration can also be privately funded. Once the doors to space are open – the possibilities are endless. We are proud to launch this innovative platform where individuals can work together on space missions.”

Members of the general public who join the community will have opportunities, using the platform, to propose missions, find people to cooperate with and crowdfund. The future of space is bounded only by imagination.

Spacebit will change the way large space projects and missions are funded. It will democratise and decentralise space exploration, unshackled by state or national sponsorship. Everybody can help further the future of humanity in our universe.

Spacebit brings involvement in space access and space exploration to ordinary people by using blockchain technology to crowdfund large space projects via a newly developed and secure platform. It not only enables a new way to fund exploration, but also acts as a conduit between people and exciting new space projects. Spacebit is a unique and international cooperation with locations across the globe.

After the first foray into Earth orbit, missions to the Moon have been proposed by members of our existing community – these include a lunar drone mission to explore the volcanic caves and putting a radio telescope on the far side of the Moon using a rover and utilising a lunar orbiting satellite to relay its data back to Earth.

Apollo 15 Lunar Command Module Pilot, Col. Al Worden commented on Spacebit’s plans to put telescope on the Moon:“Since my flight in 1971, I’ve commented many times, that the far side of moon would be a perfect place to put a telescope, in order to observe more of our universe.”

Blockchain is completely overhauling the way digital transactions are conducted and will eventually change the way entire industries conduct their daily business. One of blockchain’s main benefits lies in its transparency – an unbreakable digital ledger functions as a chronicle of all peer-to-peer transactions that occur. Spacebit uses blockchain’s unprecedented capabilities to create and trade value.

At the heart of Spacebit’s technology is a community-led crowdfunding platform based on blockchain. It will work as a Decentralised Autonomous Organisation (DAO) with a strategic peer-reviewed advisory component. The platform will enable the public to choose and support large-scale space exploration projects, with trust of all fellow participants built-in. Spacebit has created The Spacebit Token which will soon be available to the general public. This will be the financial blockchain-based powerhouse for the platform. The values of missions and space assets can thus be measured at all stages.

The Spacebit Token will be completely tradable and redeemable. The technology will allow processes for establishing claims, profits, and equitable sharing.
