IAC Student Competition Entry 2018

2018 International Astronautical Congress
Student Paper Competition
UK Selection

Entry closed for 2018. Good luck to those who have submitted abstracts!

The annual International Astronautical Congress (IAC), the world’s largest astronautics/space engineering conference, will be held this year in Bremen, Germany from 01-05 October 2018.

Every year there is a student paper competition with prizes for best papers/presentations in two categories, undergraduate and postgraduate, for both teams and individuals. This was launched on 4 March at the National Student Space Conference #NSSC18 at the University of Surrey. Thanks to Dr Stuart Eves for talking delegates through the process early on a Sunday morning!

The UK selection for the ‘individual’ competition is being run by the British Interplanetary Society’s Education and Outreach Committee and the winners of the undergraduate and post-graduate papers will bypass the heats at the IAC and go straight into the final round. To assist in covering some of their travel expenses, prizes of £500 will be presented to the winners on their arrival in Bremen.

The competition will be open for entries until Friday 27 April 4 May.

The final selection will take place in London on Saturday 26 May at a joint BIS/UKSEDS event at the BIS HQ in London.

To enter, students should email a one-page abstract (400 words maximum) to the BIS at, [email protected], by the deadline.
