Blast off to the Moon! book launch

The book launch team

The book launch team

On Saturday 15th June we officially launched our new childrens book put together with the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan).  The book is to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the moon landing next month and to explain to children in a clear way what happened, how it happened and why it happened.  The book is aimed at children up to around the age of 11.

The whole of the team who have been working on the book helped to prepare the book launch and members and other interested parties and media were invited for the exciting launch.

This partnership with UCLan is just the beginning of a relationship which will help the BIS delve into it’s rich archive of material, much hidden away, so that we can publicise the collection we have gathered over the many years of the existance of the BIS.

Starting today, I will be touring schools around Lancashire with Debbie from UCLan to educate and inspire children about Space in general and to fire them up with how exciting (and dangerous) Space can be and that if they have a passion for any subject around Space, that there is always an opportunity for them to get involved, whether as an amateur like myself who simply has an interest and passion, or to work in the field of Space in the future since this is a constantly growing arena.

Thank you to everyone involved and the support received.
