First talk (Tony Sephton)

Second talk (Ludovic Duvet)

The ESA Human and Robotics Exploration programme covers destinations from Low Earth Orbit and the International Space Station to the Mars Surface. The lecture will present the newly funded program cornerstones and challenges and will focus in particular on the NASA led Mars Sample Return Campaign for which ESA provides key elements.

About the speakers: Tony Sephton

Tony has spent 30 years in the space industry, in roles covering applications, ground segment and future spacecraft missions. Since the start of 2010, Tony has been working for ESA Business Applications, where he has been engaged in identifying and managing activities in satellite-based services across a broad range of applications such as Precision Agriculture, Animal Tracking, Flood Response, the Arctic, Space Weather, Ageing Society and Commercial Climate Services. Tony also has a Country Manager responsibility for the UK and other countries, including coordination within these countries of the network of ESA Business Applications and Space Solutions BICs, Innovation Partners and Ambassadors. Prior to working for ESA, Tony spent most of his earlier career in industry working for GEC-Marconi, Space Systems Finland, VTT and Astrium Ltd (part of Airbus Group).

About the speakers: Ludovic Duvet

Ludovic has been working in space science and exploration for more than 20 years, 15 of which at ESA, with participation to missions such as ESA/ROSETTA, NASA/STEREO for flight instrument development and later lead role for mission studies such as Euclid, JUICE (Jupiter Icy Moon Explorer), PLATO (PLAnetary Transits and Oscillations of stars). As head of the science laboratories at ESTEC (European Space Research and Technology Centre) he was also involved in technology development and validation for future science missions. Ludovic is currently study manager of the Sample Fetch Rover (Mars Sample Return) at ESA/ECSAT where he leads exploration activities.
