IAC Student Paper Competition

The annual IAC Student Paper Competition will re-open in the coming months pending confirmation from the IAF.

Every year the IAC Student Paper Competition presents two prizes for best papers/presentations in two categories, undergraduate and postgraduate. The competition was officially announced at the UKSEDS National Student Space Conference on 7th – 8th March 2020 at the University of Birmingham.  In 2020, the competition’s cash prize was match funded by the IET.

James McKevitt of Loughborough University won the Undergraduate competition with his paper ASTrAEUS: AERIAL-AQUATIC TITAN MISSION PROFILE

Alexander Schwertheim won the Postgraduate prize with his paper, The Water ElecTrolysis Hall Effect Thruster (WET-HET): Unlocking Chemical-Electrical Hybrid Propulsion with Water.

Each winner received £1,000, and joined the Council of the Society for a celebration following the IAC Cyber Edition.
