Virtual Sprite - for modelling sensor data

Below are some details and files for using the Sketchup 3D model of a Sprite for modelling the output from the real Sprite sensors - still a work in progress at this time, but work is progressing.

1. Preparation – Required programs and files

Trimble Sketchup
Install Trimble Sketchup 8, Free or Make versions are available from:
http://www.sketchup.com/download

3D Sprite model
Download a 3D model of a Sprite from the 3D Warehouse:
http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/
Search for KickSat Sprite and at least two versions will appear:
•   “KickSat Sprite - basic model” is the basic model (a simple flattened cube with picture applied).
•   “Sprite-v2” has more detail such as selectable sensors, MU and solar cells.

Ruby code for Sketchup
Download the attached Ruby script.
Save the Ruby script in the Sketchup program folder - for Windows 8 this is:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Google SketchUp 8\Plugins
When Sketchup is launched it will load this script into memory. If Sketchup is already running, close and reopen the program to load the script into memory.

2. Recording data from the Sprite
To be added. For now, download the attached example CSV files.

3. Using the 3D Sprite
Start Sketchup
Open the 3D Sprite model
Select the model (use the select tool, and ensure that you haven’t clicked into the model)
Right click and select the Sprite script (called Sprite14 in this version).


Select the speed from the dialog


Select the CSV data


Sit back and view the transformation (note: this version does not animate the Sprite smoothly between data point – it simply shows each recorded change).
A dialog appears when the CSV data has finished.

I already asked him because i read that he has an frd2lwo converter and now i am waiting for his answer. Or do you know somebody who has it?
