The 2015 World Space Week Theme

Each year, the World Space Week Association selects a theme for the upcoming World Space Week (WSW). The theme for 2015, “Discovery” celebrates the exciting discoveries in space, teaching us a lot about our origins and our future. Last year’s theme “Space: Guiding Your Way,” focused on the benefits we receive from satellite navigation systems.

The official World Space Week 2015 poster is subject to a poster design competition among space artists. The great World Space Week 2014 poster was designed by young Polish space artist Aga Kumuda.

WSW event organizers are encouraged to incorporate the theme and poster into their activities and promotional materials. To see the history of World Space Week themes, please click here.

How do you celebrate World Space Week? It is much simpler than you may think! Just have a look at these simple steps on How to Organize a World Space Week Event.

This theme can be applied to a very wide variety of space related subjects and you are free to use the theme as you wish, as long as it applies to space.

One example of how to interpret the theme is:

DISCOVERY in a space exploration context would highlight new discoveries that are brought to us by space telescopes and deep space probes.

Such as: the discovery of galaxies, exoplanets, asteroids and comets.

These include missions like ESA Gaia, NASA Kepler, Hubble and interplanetary probes and landers.
