The second meetings of the BIS ‘Science Fiction Virtual Branch’, and the ‘Future Propulsion Virtual Group’ will take place during the May BIS Monthly Online Social.
This event will be going ahead online on Zoom on Thursday 8 May at 19:00 BST
At the previous Sci-Fi meeting the book ‘Shroud’ by Arthur C. Clarke award winning author Adrian Tchaikovsky was selected, and all are invited to read this before the 8th May.
We are the new Book Club that also discusses Sci-Fi Films and Series, like Dr Who, Dune, Battlestar Galactica, Star Trek, and many others. We talk about films, the problems of how they were made, what we like about them, and what to look out for.
The Book club is simple; we all talk about what book we might like to read for a month, suggest books, and agree on one book. We buy it on Amazon or your local bookstore, read it, and when we meet again the following month, we discuss the book. Did we like it, the characters, what we think about the book, and have a general discussion about it? We then choose another book between us and carry on relaxing together for as long as we can. We all talk together as a group and all join in so our microphones are on all the time in the group.
The next meeting will be at our BIS Monthly get-together on the second Thursday of the month, 8th May 2025. Why not join us at the meeting and come to the Sci-Fi Book Room? I am running the group, Sarah Henley FBIS. If you want to write to me about the group write to me at
Sahenley114@gmail.com and please put Book Branch in the Subject box.
I look forward to seeing you in the BIS Sci-Fi Room.
The ‘Future Propulsion Group’ will continue its discussion of AF-MPD electric propulsion and the laser derived field concept.

These inaugural online meetings will be by means of the Zoom ‘Breakout room’ facility, and there will also be a third room to discuss other possible new virtual branches or groups such as the ‘South East Virtual Branch’ and a ‘Space settlements/habitats’ group’. This is an opportunity to pursue your particular interest!
