FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
LONDON, UK – June 13, 2025 – The British Interplanetary Society (BIS), the world’s oldest space advocacy organisation, today announced a significant leadership transition. Simon Feast is stepping down from his role as Chief Executive Officer, with current Chief Financial Officer John Lewin appointed as his successor.
Feast, who has led the organisation for the past three years, will conclude his tenure as CEO while continuing his involvement with the Society as a Fellow.
“We would like to thank Simon very much for his dedication to the Society and his hard work over the last three years, and we wish him every success in his future career,” said Colin Philp, President of the British Interplanetary Society. “Please join me in welcoming John Lewin as our new Chief Executive.”
John Lewin will assume the role of Chief Executive Officer on Monday, June 16, 2025. As the current Chief Financial Officer, Lewin brings extensive experience and institutional knowledge to the position, having demonstrated strong leadership capabilities during his tenure in the financial leadership role.
“We are delighted to welcome John Lewin as our new Chief Executive,” Philp continued. “His proven track record within our Society, combined with his broader career experience, positions him perfectly to lead the BIS into our next chapter. John’s leadership will ensure continuity while bringing fresh perspectives to our mission.”
The leadership transition comes as the British Interplanetary Society approaches a significant milestone – its centenary celebration in 2033. Founded in 1933, the BIS has been at the forefront of space advocacy, technical research, and public education about space exploration for over nine decades.
“This transition represents an opportunity to build upon our strong foundation as we work towards our centenary,” added Philp. “We remain committed to supporting our leadership team and staff as they continue to advance the Society’s vital mission of promoting space exploration and development for the benefit of humanity.”
The British Interplanetary Society continues its work as a leading voice in space advocacy, providing technical expertise, educational resources, and fostering international collaboration in space exploration initiatives.
