BIS EVENING LECTURE: APOLLO/SOYUZ TEST PROJECT: 50 YEARS ON
DATE: Thursday 17 July 2025
TIME: 1900BST
VENUE: BIS, London and Online
BIS Fellow Jerry Stone will talk about the significant contribution the mission made to the human spaceflight programme.
Back in the summer of 1975, Jerry had the most amazing experience; NASA launched the very last Apollo mission and its last manned flight before the Space Shuttle began operations in 1981. It was the first crewed international Space mission, carried out jointly by the United States and the Soviet Union in July 1975. A Russian crew would dock their Soyuz spacecraft with the US Apollo spacecraft in orbit, open the hatches and shake hands with the US crew.
Jerry was there, were you? Do you have photos or other souvenirs? If so, bring them along and share you memories of 50 years ago.
