Next Virtual Branch and Group Meetings

The next meetings of the BIS ‘Science Fiction Virtual Branch’, and the ‘Future Propulsion Virtual Group’ will take place on Thursday 12th June, by means of dedicated ‘breakout rooms’ during the BIS Monthly Online Social that evening.

There will also be a discussion on possible new branches and groups; and since last month there have been proposals for the topics of Space Art and Culture, Human Spaceflight, Practical Projects, Interstellar Studies, a Wales Branch, Earth/Moon Interaction, Space Law, and Space History.

So if you are interested in one of these ‘Special Interests’ (or indeed any other), please do attend and offer your support. It only needs a few people to be interested in a particular topic, and we will start a Virtual Group for it!

Meanwhile, the book ‘Shroud’ by Arthur C. Clarke award winning author Adrian Tchaikovsky remains the Science Fiction Branch ‘book of the month’, and all are invited to read it before 12th June: We are the new Book Club that also discusses Sci-Fi Films and Series, like Dr Who, Dune, Battlestar Galactica, Star Trek, and many others. We talk about films, the problems of how they were made, what we like about them, and what to look out for. The Book club is simple; we all talk about what book we might like to read for a month, suggest books, and agree on one book. We buy it on Amazon or your local bookstore, read it, and when we meet again the following month, we discuss the book. Did we like it, the characters, what we think about the book, and have a general discussion about it? We then choose another book between us and carry on relaxing together for as long as we can. We all talk together as a group and all join in so our microphones are on all the time in the group.
