A dramatic drone shot of the Black Arrow full size replica at Sandown Airport, will be followed by the acceptance of the finished bare rocket at Cowes and sequences of the rocket being raised, then lowered and protected for the winter. Interspersed slides will show the involvement of various companies and colleges on the Island that participated in the build. A fly-by of the High Down Test site will round off the talk

Bio

Tony is a retired CAA licensed Aircraft Engineer qualified in various types of Airframe/Turbine engined aircraft. He has a MSc in Quality Management, an Incorporated Engineer, a member of RAeS and a Chartered Quality Practitioner. He has spent his working life in aviation starting with 12 years in the RAF finishing as a Chief Technician in airframes and propulsion. On leaving the RAF he studied and obtained his CAA licences and was Chief Engineer with various FBO’s (Fixed Base Operators) and for his last 17 years before retirement was Head of Quality and Certification at Britten-Norman the Isle of Wight aircraft manufacturer. After retirement he joined BSI as an external resource aerospace auditor, having the qualification as an IRCA registered lead auditor for the Aerospace sector scheme AS9100 auditing in Design, Production and Maintenance with the authority to recommend approvals to this standard. He is now The Technical Director of Wight Aviation Museum. His hobbies are gardening and a volunteer at the Isle of Wight Steam Railway specialising in the restoration of vintage wooden rolling stock. Tony remarks that although he has built, maintained, and modified aircraft this is the first time he has had a rocket constructed by a boat building company.
