Specialist Space Library and Archives

The BIS Library is an extensive collection of reference and research archives related to space exploration and the history of the Society, dating back to the founding of the BIS in 1933.  This unique and historic collection tells the story of space travel, academic research and contains key papers from space agencies from around the world.

Open to all BIS Members and Fellows

Monday – Friday, 10.30 to 15.30

The Library is available to our Members and Fellows and whilst it is not possible to borrow books or journals, it is possible to arrange for a limited number of photocopies to be taken if required for studying or research purposes. 

Members can access the Library Catalogue via the Members Area of this website.

Research Service

Request assistance or copies of past papers, journals, photographs, and more… 
The BIS Research Service is available for a small fee*.

*  The Research Service fee reflects the time required to research and compile the materials requested.
