The BIS celebrated the United Nations International Day of Women and Girls in Science on 11th February 2021, with a social media campaign of videos from its members, staff, volunteers and supporters, talking about their inspirations and why they followed a career in space.
In the coming year, the BIS – as the UK National Co-ordinators of World Space Week – will mark the WSW theme 2021. The #WomenInScience day was an opportunity to begin the celebration of female figures in the space sector, as it encourages those of all backgrounds to consider how they can get involved in the space sector, at a uniquely exciting point in the history of space exploration.
