Green propulsion with over a decade of flight heritage
Welcome to this presentation about the development of ‘green propellants’ based on Ammonium Dinitramide (ADN), thrusters and propulsion systems for satellites, together with an overview of the flight heritage for small spacecraft. In-Space chemical propulsion using ionic liquids have demonstrated numerous benefits to missions, ranging from increasing propulsion system performance to decreasing spacecraft processing hazards, schedule, and cost. Based on this and more than a decade of flight heritage, green propulsion is likely to be considered in the trade space for future missions.
Mathias Persson
After the M.Sc. in Aeronautical Engineering, he continued with research and received a Licentiate of Engineering degree (Lic.Eng.) at KTH – the Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden, and at FFA – the Aeronautical Research Institute of Sweden. Prior to joining ECAPS in 2008, he held multiple positions as consultant, sales manager and CEO in different companies with focus in IT and scientific computing. He served as the CEO of ECAPS from 2010, and actively contributed to the introduction of High-Performance Green Propulsion to the market. He has presented numerous papers and served as an instructor “Development and Flight Experience of ADN Propulsion Systems” at the AIAA Liquid Propulsion Short Course in 2011 and 2013.
